Bio

I could, I suppose write one of those artist statements like they make you do in various art history classes, but that's not me at all. Most of those are nothing more than a competition to see who can use the most arcane words, the most times. I prefer to keep it simple, and stick to the facts.

I have a BFA from Savannah College of Art and Design in Animation (2006). I currently work on a project called Pulse!! It is a medical training simulation, designed to train doctors and medics to care for patients through a virtual platform. I have been responsible for not only rigging most of our characters, but for designing the facial rigs for our NPCs from scratch, and managed to accomplish that when I didn't even know very much about 3ds Max. Talk about a challenge. I am now well versed in 3ds Max, and especially character studio, as most of my work now centers on animation.

I also know Maya really well, and love rigging in it. I used Maya exclusively while I was an undergrad. In my spare time, I still work in it. Lately, a lot of my spare time has been going to taking Computer Science classes. Programming is an important part of art for film and game development, believe it or not, especially when it comes to things like Character Rigging, and of course lighting and shaders. I am hoping to learn enough about programming, and maybe along the way get another Bachelor's degree, to be able to put my skills to use making automated tools for art processes.

Outside of work, I enjoy traveling, and I backpacked through Italy, France and England in May of 2009. I hope to go again soon. I have a dog now though, so that could complicate leaving the country. He is a lab mix, and we rescued him from a gas station where he had been abandoned back in September of 2009.
